Heaven & Earth - 40th Anniversary Series -2019-

40th Anniversary Series の最終作品としてリリースされ、ProjeKct 期から、『 The ConstruKction of Light 』 、『 The Power To Believe 』 迄の期間の作品をまとめたもの。
従来のBOXは、映像を含めた既発の一般流通製品をそのまま収録するという手法がとられていたが、本作品には 『 Heavy ConstruKction 』、『 Eyes Wide Open 』 といったこの時期の作品が収録されていない。 こうした編集になったのは、ProjeKct の全音源を収録するという点に重きが置かれたためだと想像できるが、結果として痒いところに手が届いていない作品になってしまっている。
従来のBOXは既発音源と新たに発掘された音源をどのように編集するかが重要であったのに対し、本作品ではほぼ全てのライヴ音源が保存されている中から何をピックアップするのかという異なったアプローチとなり、それが上手く機能しなかったように思える。

ただ、” Thela Hun Ginjeet ” 演奏後のブリューのアナウンスのクレジットを独立させた他、” The ConstruKction Of Light ” が30秒程長くなっている。 その理由は、本作品では登場→演奏準備→演奏開始が収録されている一方、DGM Live のダウンロード版は登場→演奏開始となっており、演奏準備の部分がカットされているためである。

短期間の活動で終わってしまった Lineup 7 のライヴを収録したもの。
Lineup 7 の作品は、今まで DGM Live から8月7日のシカゴのライヴがライヴのみがダウンロード販売されており、今回が2作品目となる。
新編成ながら新曲が全く無いライヴ構成に当時は珍しさと違和感を覚えたが、今となっては現行 ( Lineup 8 ) 編成でのライヴのプロトタイプともとれる。
『 Discipline 』 以降の楽曲のみで固めらたこの時期のクリムゾンと、ヴァリエーション豊かレパートリーを誇る現行クリムゾンの決定的な違いは、エイドリアン・ブリューの存在であることがよく判る。

改めて、この時期の編成は以下の通りである。

ProjeKct One, Three, Four の全音源を収録した Blu-ray 作品。 ただ正確に記すと、KCCC の34作品目としてリリースされた ProjeKct Three の2003年音源の 『  Live in Alexandria, VA 』 は収録されていない。 同音源は、本来キング・クリムゾンとして公演するところがブリューの体調不良から ProjeKct Three 編成になってしまったのだが、本BOXでは ProjeKct Three の正式公演と位置付けられていないことになる。

一方 BPM& M の 『 XtraKcts & ArtifaKcts 』 だけでなく、Rieflin, Fripp, Gunn による 『 The Repercussions Of Angelic Behaviour 』 も ProjeKct の作品として収録されている。 同作がリリースされた際、ジャケットには曲名は記載しておらず、指定されたアドレス にアクセスしても曲名がアルファベット順に記載されいるだけだった。 今回初めて曲と曲名の一致がなされたのだが、これがどれだけ正しいかは謎のままである。

総じて本ディスクについての付属ブックレットのミス・クレジットが多くなっている。 気づいた点は個々に記載したが、多くは実際に収録されている曲がクレジットされていないだけで問題はない。 ただオリジナルに収録されていた無声部分を割愛していたり、細かい変更も施されており、慎重に聴き比べていく必要がある作品である。

正直なところ、誰にとって得なのか判らない作品である。 ProjeKct Two にそれほど興味が無い人には本ディスク全て聴き終えるには相当な覚悟が必要である。 また ProjeKct Two にそこそこに関心のある人（私もです）は既に DGM Live からダウンロード購入した内容であって、それらが1枚のディスクに収録されたことは、まぁ微妙な残念感を感じざるを得ない。

Studio Tour

コンテンツとしては、Disk 19 と 20（ともにDVD）から ProjeKct X の音源を外し、DVD作品の 『 Eyes Wide Open 』 に収録されている2000年のロンドンと2003年の日本でのライヴの音声と、Studio Tour と題した映像を収録した Blu-ray。
2つのライヴについては、音声のみではなく、Extraを含めた全コンテンツを映像として収録してもらいたかった。
Studio Tour は、タイトル通りスタジオの様子を約22分間収録した映像作品。

横方向に広めの会場で、クラッシックのコンサートが行われた写真が壁に掲げられているのを確認することができる。 フリップのダイアリーを確認すると、残響音が響き過ぎで、ロック系演奏には適していないと記載してある。

この日はサーカスを興行する会場である。 前日からの振り幅が激しいが、何れにせよ演奏する側には適した環境でないことが判る。

最前列のカメラがフリップに寄ったため、ピンぼけしていないフリップのアップから始まるのが衝撃的だったりする。 ただ半野外のような会場ではタバコを吸っている客もいたりして、フリップには心地良くなかったはずである。

この日もサーカス会場での演奏。 演奏する側も大変だと思うが、聴く側にとっても望ましい会場でないことが判る。 ” Improv : Pozanan 2” ではブリューは演奏に参加していない。

会場紹介は翌日に譲り、この日はいきなり演奏が始まる。 いくつかのパーツを組み合わせた20分弱の ” Improv : Warsaw 1 ” が完全収録されているのだが、音声だけの場合と異なり演奏の凄まじさを堪能することができる。

前日と同会場での演奏。 海賊船のセットが舞台裏にあり、前後してミュージカル（？）が興行されたものと思われる。
10分強の ” Improv : Warsaw 2 ” は、この日も素晴らしいことが判る。

プラハでの荒れた内容がそのまま収録されている。
” VROOOM ” 演奏中にカメラ撮影されたためにフリップが激怒、明らかに不満そうに演奏するのを察したブリューがマステロットの元に行き、ドラムを2人で楽しそうに演奏して盛り上げる。 しかしフリップの怒りは収まらずライトをつけろ、カメラを寄越せと主張し、ライヴが中断。 その後没収したと思われるカメラをフリップが高々と掲げてライヴが再開するところまで、全て収録されている。

ブリューが機材トラブルに悩まされたことが判る映像。
” Improv : Leipzig 1 ” の冒頭でノイズが発生し、後半からの演奏参加となっている。 ” Improv : Leipzig 2 ” でも、殆どギター・テックしか見ていない。 結果として ProjeKct Three の演奏となっている。

縦方向の座席数より、横方向の座席数の方が多い野外ステージでの演奏。 この日から野外ステージが続くことになる。
” The World's My Oyster Soup Kitchen Floor Wax Museum ” の前に、ノン・クレジットで長めのインプロが収録されている。

ステージの後ろがそのまま海という野外ステージでの演奏。 しかもステージ袖が無いためか、ステージ後方の階段中央から全員が降りてくるという登場方法が、80年代の日本の歌番組風だったりする。
音声だけだと魅力を感じなかったインプロ2曲の良さが、映像版だと判るのが驚きである。

すぐ横がサッカーの練習場になっている野外ステージでの演奏。
この日の最大の成果は久々の ” FraKctured ” の凄まじい演奏である。 本演奏を映像版に収録した意図がよく判る。

ブリューの機材トラブルはここでも発生しており、インプロ2曲でのブリューの活躍度は低い。 ブリューの機材トラブル補完のためにインプロを演奏しているようにも思えるが、” Improv : Rome 1 ” でギターの演奏を諦めたブリューがベースを演奏するのが面白い。
また、” Larks' Tongues In Aspic : Part IV ” 演奏直後にフラッシュが点灯、フリップが撮影をやめるようにアナウンスするが、プラハの時のように演奏中断にまで至っていない。
尚、『 Heavy ConstruKction 』 の CD-Extra には、この日の演奏から ” VROOOM ” が更に収録されている。

めちゃくちゃ狭いライヴ・ハウスでの演奏。
野外より遥かに環境は良いのだろうが、こんな箱程度の人気しかスペインでは無いのだろうか。 個人的には体験したいが。

野外会場というより、街中の一画を区切って演奏場所にしたような場所で、すぐ横には洗濯物が干してあったりする。
こんな環境に集中力を欠いているのは明らかで、インプロの始まりはサウンドチェックのようである。 マステロットが床を叩いて音を出したりしているのもなんだか良く判らない。

半野外というか、植物園のような構造の建物の中で演奏。
演奏に覇気はなく、唯一の成果は ” Heroes ” が収録されていることである。

 

2000年のヨーロッパ・ツアーの映像を収録した Blu-ray 作品。
1999年に立ち上げた Bootleg TV 用に各地で収録された映像を集めたもので、カメラ数が少ないことから映像が不鮮明であったりするが、生々しさを感じるところもある。 それだけにどれか1公演で構わないから、コンサートの全編を収録してほしかった。
サーカス会場、野外ステージ等、ライヴの環境としては適切と思えない場所が多く、ブッキングしたエージェントに問題があったのではないかと思えることがある。
本ディスクの再生モードは PLAY ALL と CHOOSE CONCERT の他に、RANDOM BLIND DATE が用意されているのだが、私が所有しているディスクではランダムでもブラインドでもなく、そのまま再生される。
